Hey I’m Matt!

I’m currently a junior and a Criminal Justice major. I was a runner my whole life up until the end of my freshmen year of college. It was then that I fell in love with bodybuilding and going to the gym every day. With the stress of classes and schoolwork, the gym is like my sanctuary. For those 2 or 3 hours there are no big projects due, and I have nowhere to be. It's just me and the weights.

I get asked a lot what motivates me, and honestly I motivate myself with how I want to look. I know that I need to get in the gym and lift those weights if I want to keep making progress. To me, skipping a workout is not an option. The same is true with what I eat. When I’m dieting, I use food to fuel my body and I understand the importance of eating clean foods. If you workout seriously but don’t eat healthy, you will not make good improvements. You are essentially taking one step forward and another step back.

My goal at the moment is to put on some quality size and to compete in another bodybuilding show in 2016. I hope to reach 240-250lbs by then, before I start dieting. This will be quality weight and not from junk foods.

My workout routine is pretty simple. Each day I train a certain major body part with some minor details at the end. For example, today I trained shoulders and afterwards I trained my calves. There is also chest, back, arms, and the most important one of them all, legs. Having a good set of legs in the gym sets one apart from being just like everyone else.

Bodybuilding.com has helped me from the very beginning. I suggest anyone starting out to go and check out their 3 month plans they have available. They line out what to work out each day, along with what you should and shouldn’t be eating. I started out with a simple plan they offered, and after awhile I crafted it into what I do today.
