Hey I'm Ginnie!
I’m 22 years old and a senior at Longwood University. I haven’t always been healthy, I’m a sucker for junk food and sweets, but it wasn’t until after my freshman year that I realized I really needed to change. Between eating poorly and drinking an excessive amount of alcohol I found myself feeling bloated, tired, and all around disgusted with myself. Starting my sophomore year I committed myself to eating clean healthy foods and stepping up my workouts. Shortly after starting I realized how great it felt, which motivated me to keep going. Yes, there are days its hard to find the motivation to go to the gym or say no to a milkshake but overall I maintain a healthy diet and workout regularly to feel good. After seeing the changes in my body from being healthy its hard to imagine going back. I use how I feel now to motivate myself to keep going and pushing myself to get better.
My goal at the start of my healthy living journey was to lose weight and become “skinny” but I found that to be an unrealistic goal. Now, I focus on building lean muscle and losing fat. I would still like to lose a couple pounds but I’m fairly comfortable where I am now. A future goal would be to one day participate in a fitness competition.
My favorite workout routine is leg day. I love working my legs and I try to do squats everyday. I know its been a good leg workout when walking up the stairs at the gym is like climbing a mountain. My go to for working legs are squats and leg press, both exercises engage your legs as a whole and leave me feeling the burn. Even though leg day is my favorite I also love working my arms, its important to lift weights and feel strong.
My favorite meal is probably my oatmeal with peanut butter and a banana. It may sound crazy but it is delicious!
